JOHANNESBURG – South African-based Zimbabwean maskandi group, Abafana baka Mzilikazi, will launch their sizzling sixth album in Tsholotsho on New Year’s Eve.
Group proprietor and lead-singer Doit Mhlaba Nkomo told African Voice Global this week that the group will launch the album, titled Qaphela, inside the old Vuka bar.
“We have invited many other artists to grace this show. We do not require artists to pay anything to be part of this show because there have been complaints artists have previously been made to pay money in order for them to perform at events,” said Nkomo, who has graced a number of radio and television stations in South Africa, promoting the album. Just last week, the Tsholotsho-born singer was on Soweto TV for a similar purpose.
“All the songs in the album are hot, but most people have fallen in love with the title track Qaphela, WoooCha, where I featured fellow maskandi singer and poet Dibi and Uthando Lwakho, featuring rhumba artist, Mxolisi Mr Bones, who previously asked me to feature in his rhumba album.”
