JOHANNESBURG – Zimbabwean businessman and Matabeleland culturalist and philanthropist, Chief Albert Zwelibanzi Gumede, has died.

Gumede – best known for his business acumen and the active role he played in the revival of Ndebele culture in South Africa, died in the early hours of Tuesday, at a private hospital in Johannesburg.

The owner of Kutlwano Restaurant and Bar, popularly known as KwaGumede in Yeoville, was also the main sponsor of Mthwakazi Maskandi when it was still in its infancy stage, extending his benevolence to both groups and events in the genre.

He will be sadly missed.
